Four weeks until the next event, and we are putting together a good one we feel. We are two weeks from our previous event and everyone is healthy and good, which means we are awesome! However, we are still in a pandemic and your safety is number one. We would love new players and returnees; more so, vaccination is still required. Like pervious event, pre-registration for the event will be required to attend. No walk-on entries again this event. Pre-registration does not require pre-payment. Proof of vaccination for new players and new returnees will be required as well. That all said, lets find some more people to bring to and back to game! More players mean we can run more things. More things mean more action and excitement! We will be continuing the new player promotions for the rest of this year and are in the works with promotions for bringing new players as well. We heard a rumor that IP money and items might be as much or more incisive than the XP rewards… we will see what we can accommodate.
As some might have heard we are doing the Fire Festival next event, traditionally something players have only seen in Ward 1. We wonder how Ward 5 handles the festival. For players this means little, honestly. Its not a huge thing that character really know about on the Island nor should they do anything different for the event other than show up. But that’s all in-play stuff, and we can talk more in-depth about that in future updates.
Opening ceremonies will be at 9 o’clock this event. That’s thirty minutes earlier then last event. And spoilers it will be thirty minutes even earlier for the August event. We saw players had zero issues getting to site and inn-play in time and we loved having the extra time, we are going to maximize for more now! Those of you that were at last event will get to be in-play shortly after opening ceremonies, those that haven’t been to a safety course this ear at our game will however not be allowed to get in-play until they attend one. This course will be directly after opening ceremonies. Missing the course will mean you have to wait until we have the time to gather anyone else that might have missed the first one and give another. DO NOT BE THE PERSON THAT MISSES THIS.
Dinner and food will of course be available Friday night and all weekend. A pan-oceanic menu will be the highlight for the weekend, though we will of course have or normal favorites available as well. We will be attempting to have a sneak peek at some menu items before the event, so check back in at future updates for those.
Last up for this update we will talk about Plot teams. We have had a few inquiries about it. At this time, we would like game to grow back to its more comfortable size before putting together another plot team. That means let’s pump those numbers up and then we can talk about your season long commitment to torturing your friends. With that said we are buckling down on the content we will have being ran at Xadune and as such have been working on a system to help us make sure our vision of Xadune is met when others run things in the world. As such we have come up with the CRC: Content Runners Certification.
The CRC is a test which must be retaken every year by someone that wants to run content at Xadune. Depending on your experience with game and length of time you have run things for Xadune effects the tier of CRC you can have. There are currently three tiers. The requirements to test for a CRC is as follows:
– Must have played the game for at least 9 events.
– Must have attended the past 5 event for at least a half event prior to testing.
– Must be in good standing – no formal warnings or bans on their record for the past year.
– Must pass the CRC Test with 80% or higher.
The CRC test is a fifty-question test comprised of short answer, true/false, multiple choice, and essay style questions as well as two test modules. Can be attempted twice every 5 events or half year. The test must be taken in-person with a Staff or Story Team member present the entire time. Certification lasts (1) year from time approved, after which one can update their cert by taking a shorter refresher test with-in three months of their CRC expiring.
Part of the test is running two test modules with supervision. These will be mods the CRC applicant will develop with the aid of a Staff or Story-team member. The first mod is heavily supervised and assistance will be given with stating, loot, and general ideas. The second mod is less supervised and be more of a demonstration of the CRC applicant’s talents. Feedback is given after each mod.
Certification can be revoked for the following reasons:
○ Receiving a Formal Warning
○ Failing to adhere to or enforce the Xadune rules
○ Running unapproved content at Xadune
So that’s a lot of work for this, what does it get you? A CRC allows a person to submit mods to run during the event. Upon approval, mod will be scheduled and ran. Depending on the tier level depends on what you can run. Tiers are earned by years of experience running mods at Xadune.
Tiers
– 1st year certification: Can run one mod an event, during the day time only. These are not allowed to be Town Battles or mods that are designed for more than 8 players.
– 2nd year certification: Can run up to two mods an event. Can run nighttime mods. These are not allowed to be Town Battles, or mods that are designed for more than 15 players.
– 3rd year certification: Can run Town Battles. Large, inclusive battles or events which are designed to engage at least 75% of town. Story ideas can also be far reaching and last an entire event or multiple if required.
All mods for all levels of certification must be submitted in full to Xadune Staff and can only be run with approval of Xadune Staff.
Gaining certification levels requires running content at two events per every three events over the course of a year. Should a mod be missed, the CRC holder may be allowed to make up the missed event’s content by doubling up at an event. More details on that as the need arises.
Finally, previous (and future) Plot experience will count towards certification level time. So, if you have served on Plot in the past, you can take you CRC and start off at Tier 2. For future reference, the CRC test will be required for those of you that want to be on plot in the future.
And for those of you curious about what is on the test: anything and everything Xadune. Test questions will be pulled form a pool we have been making over the past few years, so no test should be alike. Questions range from being straight forward rules questions, to important historical questions about the game. Knowing the PHB is the first step in preparing for the CRC. Learning the history of the in-play game would be the next. Lastly, we will say their will be marked situational questions. These questions have no right or wrong answer in a sense that we are looking for a sense on how you will handle yourself in the situations. We need content runners that will not just entertain the players of Xadune, but also help us make sure everyone is playing fairly and within our set rules. We need people that can enforce this when needed, not just turn a blind eye.
Well, that about covers it for this week’s update. We hope everyone is doing great and we look forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks!
